Port-Vila, Vanuatu – 12 August 2022: From 8 to 12 August 2022, the team of the National University of Vanuatu (NUV) met students in Santo to present the various opportunities at the university as the inscriptions opened on 8 August 2022 and will close on 30 September 2022.

The NUV will offer six diplomas for the 2023 academic year: the Bachelor’s degree in Economic and Social Administration, the Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality, the Bachelor of Environmental Sciences, the Master’s degree in Economic Social Sciences, the Diploma in Information and Communication Technology and the Diploma in Climate Resilience and Humanitarian Action.

Over the five days, the NUV team visited nine schools including the Technical College of Saint Michel, Lycée de Luganville, Matevulu College or Tata Junior Secondary School. Students were delighted to discover the potential opportunities offered to them and ask questions to help them decide on their cursus and their future.

A session was also offered to the general public on Friday 12 August at Luganville Market to reach a wider audience. Everyone was welcome to get more details and ask questions to the enthusiast team from the NUV.

Stephen Silas, the Student Academic and Support Services Officer at the NUV, said “We are really happy to see that students are interested and eager to learn more about the courses available at the NUV. It is not always easy to choose a path after the secondary school so we see how helpful this initiative is”.

The NUV team will head off to Tanna from 16 to 19 August 2022 to raise awareness on the opportunities in the NUV for the students in Tanna.

The development of the NUV is aligned with Vanuatu People’s Plan and the Vanuatu Education and Training Sector Strategic Plan. The focus of education and training under the NUV and associated institutions are based on the priorities of the country’s National Human Resource Development Plan 2020-2030 (NHRDP).
