Engagement and Partnerships

Since its establishment in 2020, the National University of Vanuatu (NUV) is committed to building strategic partnerships that contribute to the growth of the University and to the priorities of the Vanuatu and the Pacific region.

As Vanuatu’s national university, NUV works with government institutions, universities, research organisations, development partners, industry, communities and other stakeholders in Vanuatu and internationally. These partnerships provide opportunities to strengthen teaching and learning, develop new academic programmes, expand research and innovation, build institutional capacity, and create new opportunities for students and staff.

NUV’s approach to partnerships is increasingly focused on strategic and sustainable collaboration. The University seeks to develop and consolidate partnerships that deliver clear value for NUV and its students, while supporting national development priorities and addressing the challenges and opportunities facing Vanuatu and the wider Pacific.

Connecting NUV to Vanuatu and the Pacific

National partnerships enable NUV to work closely with government ministries and agencies, the private sector and communities to ensure that education, research and innovation respond to the needs of the country. Collaboration in areas such as agriculture, environment and climate change, digital transformation, economics, tourism, health and education contributes to the development of skills, knowledge and solutions relevant to Vanuatu.

At the regional and international levels, NUV collaborates with universities, research institutions and development partners to connect Vanuatu to wider networks of knowledge and expertise. These partnerships create opportunities for student and staff mobility, scholarships, professional development, joint research, academic exchange and collaborative programme development.

Partnerships for knowledge, research and innovation

NUV is strengthening partnerships that support the development of research and innovation as key components of the University’s mission. Through collaboration with national and international research organisations, government and development partners, NUV seeks to expand research capacity, mobilise expertise and funding, and contribute knowledge to national and regional priorities.

Partnerships also support the development of new academic programmes and learning opportunities, enabling NUV to respond to emerging needs and provide students with knowledge and skills relevant to Vanuatu’s future.

A growing network with a clear strategic purpose

NUV has established a growing network of partnerships across Vanuatu, the Pacific and beyond. The University is now placing greater emphasis on coordinating, prioritising and strengthening this network, ensuring that partnerships are effectively implemented and aligned with NUV’s strategic objectives.

NUV welcomes opportunities to work with organisations that share its commitment to building knowledge, developing people and contributing to the sustainable development of Vanuatu and the Pacific.
