Port-Vila, Vanuatu – Tuesday 26 August 2025: The National University of Vanuatu (NUV) shone thanks the NUV Cultural Day 2025 organised at the NUV campus in Port Vila. The full-day celebration brought together students, families, and the wider community to honour Vanuatu’s rich cultural heritage and traditions under the theme “Through Custom and Culture, We Encourage Use and Promote Education in Vanuatu”.
From the early morning traditional ceremonies and cultural dances to the vibrant evening of live music by Makura Tokolau LSB and the Vatururu & Aruaru LSB Band, the campus was alive with energy, pride, and a deep sense of unity. Visitors experienced traditional cuisine, weaving and crafts, provincial flag displays, storytelling, and language exchanges that highlighted the incredible diversity of Vanuatu’s provinces.
NUV Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pascal Michon, expressed his pride in the students’ initiative. He said, “I was truly impressed by the creativity, dedication, and leadership of our students in making NUV Cultural Day such a success. By weaving customs into education, we build a future where knowledge and culture walk hand in hand, strengthening our nation and enriching our communities.”
President of the NUV Student Association, Mr. Marco Tabwal, warmly thanked the students for their active involvement. He said, “On behalf of the Student Association, I thank every student who participated and contributed to this remarkable day. NUV Cultural Day proved once again the dynamism, talent, and leadership of our students. We look forward to more student-led events that not only showcase our skills and creativity but also affirm our pride in being the future leaders of the Pacific.”
The event was attended by honoured guests including Chief Paul Robert Ravun, President blong Malvatumauri, alongside community members, professionals and families who joined in the festivities.
NUV Cultural Day 2025 has reinforced the University’s mission to nurture cultural pride, foster unity, and empower students to take bold steps in leading and shaping the future of Vanuatu.
