Port-Vila, Vanuatu – Thursday 1 January 2026: As the New Year begins, the National University of Vanuatu (NUV) extends its warmest wishes to all students, staff, partners, alumni, government agencies, communities, and stakeholders for a happy, healthy, and prosperous year ahead.
On behalf of the University’s Senate and leadership, the Vice-Chancellor, Mr Jean-Pierre Nirua, conveys sincere appreciation to all stakeholders for their commitment and contributions throughout 2025. Their continued support has been essential in strengthening the University’s role as Vanuatu’s national institution of higher learning and in advancing education, research, and community engagement.
Reflecting on the year that has ended, the Vice-Chancellor Nirua said, “As 2025 ends, we are deeply grateful for the resilience it forged within us. This year’s challenges were the catalyst for a life-changing move to the Pacific, opening a new chapter where we can truly contribute and thrive. We have learned to reinvest our energy where it is valued, and for that clarity, we are richer and stronger. Thank you to everyone who stood by us. Your support was our foundation. Now, we look to 2026 and beyond with confidence, purpose, stability, and peace at NUV. Happy New Year!”
Looking ahead to 2026, NUV anticipates a year of significant growth and new challenges. The University is preparing to expand the range of academic programs offered in response to national and regional needs, while also strengthening its workforce through targeted staff recruitment and development. Increased emphasis will be placed on building and deepening partnerships with local, regional, and international institutions, alongside the continued growth of research and innovation activities that support sustainable development in Vanuatu and the Pacific.
The Vice-Chancellor Nirua encourages all partners to continue pursuing strong and meaningful collaboration in 2026, recognising that collective effort remains central to the University’s progress and long-term impact. The leadership of NUV also extends heartfelt thanks to all supporters for their dedication throughout 2025 and looks forward to continuing this work together while developing new connections in the year ahead.
