Course Description

This Graduate Diploma in Education (Adult & Vocational Training) is designed for experienced educators and trainers who aspire to lead and innovate within the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) sector. It focuses on developing leadership, research, and quality assurance capabilities to strengthen adult and vocational education.

Graduates will gain the expertise to:

  • Mentor colleagues using effective adult learning strategies tailored to diverse needs.
  • Drive training and program development initiatives that support sector growth and sustainability.
  • Implement and report on quality management systems and audit processes to ensure compliance and excellence in PSET services.
  • Engage in action research to inform and improve training and assessment practices.
  • Deliver inclusive instruction using universal design principles, total communication strategies, and sign language to remove barriers for vulnerable learners.

This qualification prepares professionals for leadership roles in the PSET sector, enabling them to influence policy, enhance institutional quality, and promote lifelong learning opportunities.

Entry Requirement

Admission to the program requires students to have achieved:

  • Diploma in Training and Assessment or similar
  • Diploma or higher in any trades or specialised field of study
  • LLN skill level at Band 6 of the National Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Framework
  • At least 5 years of industry and/or work experience in the vocational area

Applicants who are unable to meet the above academic entry requirements, but who have adequate relevant professional experience of five years or more, and who have met the LLN entry requirements, and are able to demonstrate an ability to study at this level, may be allowed entry upon approval from the NUV Registrar.
