Course Description

The primary objective of this Bachelor of Education (Inclusive Teaching) – Pre-Service is to equip prospective teachers with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to effectively cater to the diverse learning needs of all learners in the classroom. Specifically, the program aims to:

  • Provide theoretical and practical training in inclusive pedagogy to address the needs of children with disabilities and diverse learning needs.
  • Foster positive attitudes towards disability and cultural sensitivity among future educators.
  • Cultivate critical thinking, analytical skills, and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
  • Align with the development goals of Vanuatu by addressing critical gaps in teacher education and promoting inclusive and equitable access to quality

Entry Requirement

Admission to the program requires students to have achieved:

  • South Pacific Form Seven Certificate (SPFSC) or the Vanuatu University Entrance Certificate (VUEC) or the Diplôme d’Accès au Etudes Universitaires (DAEU) or Baccalauréat or any other qualification equivalent to those mentioned above.
  • Year 12 Certificate with at least 5 years of teaching experience/related industry
  • A score of 50% in English or French and other three subjects
  • LLN skill level at Band 5 of the National Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Framework
  • Lack high school qualifications but have gained considerable experience in the fields of general education, special education and inclusive education. Persons with disabilities who have considerable experience will also be considered under special entry. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may apply in line with NUV Accreditation of Prior Learning policies and procedures.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) are available and follow the NUV Recognition of Prior Learning Policy and Procedures. Students will be advised how to apply for RPL and CT and how they will be supported when making the application
  • Applicants who are unable to meet the above academic entry requirements, but who have adequate relevant professional experience, who meet the LLN entry requirements, and who can demonstrate an ability to study at this level, may be allowed entry upon approval from the NUV Registrar.

    –    Relevant transcripts
    –    One clear and recent identification photo (clear background)
    –    A Curriculum Vitae (CV)
