Port-Vila, Vanuatu – Thursday 27 February 2025: The National University of Vanuatu (NUV) extends its sincere gratitude to all speakers and participants who contributed to the success of the NUV Seminar on Vanuatu at the World’s Highest Court, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), held on Wednesday 26 February 2025 at the NUV Auditorium.

Organised in partnership with the Vanuatu Climate Justice Program, this seminar was a landmark event. It brought together distinguished speakers and an engaged audience, including high-level politicians such as the Speaker of Parliament, Members of Parlement, legal experts, directors, students, and civil society representatives Student to discuss Vanuatu’s role in global climate justice. The overwhelming turnout and dynamic discussions highlighted the deep interest and commitment of all attendees to this critical issue.

  • Arnold Kiel Loughman, Attorney General
  • Brittien Yosef, Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Legal Officer
  • Vepaiamele Trief, Civil Society Representative

Reflecting on the event’s success, Mr Jean-Pierre Nirua, NUV’s Vice Chancellor, said, “We are incredibly proud of this collaboration with the Vanuatu Climate Justice Program. This seminar is just one of many initiatives aimed at equipping the community with valuable insights into global legal frameworks and Vanuatu’s leadership in climate justice. NUV’s students in the Diploma in Climate Resilience and Humanitarian Action supported this seminar that aligns perfectly with their course.
